Christ, by highest Heav’n adored, Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold him come, offspring of the virgin’s womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail th’incarnate Deity,
pleased as man with men to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel.
This week we sing of the incarnation. It has been called the most astounding miracle of all–the miracle of miracles. The Word has become flesh. The everlasting Lord of time has broken into time. The Creator of the universe enters creation. Deity becomes man. God, as man, dwells, walks, and talks with man. He is veiled in flesh and carried in the womb of the virgin for nine months and held in the arms of Mary, his mother. Our response is appropriately songs full of awe. We sing of the miracle of miracles with the choirs of angels, saints, and sinners.
