Why lies He in such mean estate, where ox and ass are feeding?

The Lord of the universe took on the form of a servant. This would shock the sensibilities of any who have a
respected status, let alone a Sovereign. But as Mark 10:45 reminds us, “even the Son of Man came not to be served but
to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” He served those who owed service! Today we lift our praises to
the Servant King who lived “with the poor and mean and lowly.” We will not see Him in a lowly stable, but exalted,
“set at God’s right hand on high!” The Servant King is now victorious, and every knee shall soon bow before Him.
