The King of love my Shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His and He is mine forever.
This week there is an obvious emphasis pointing to Jesus as our great shepherd, as well as our cleansing fountain. Every hymn joins the theme and lifts our hearts to Him. It is a particular joy to be singing The King of Love My Shepherd Is, a version of Psalm 23 that I sang as a child. The tune may be unfamiliar to you, but notice its sense of both pastoral beauty as well as stately lordship. Our shepherd is also our King who rules and reigns over all. Our King is also our caring shepherd and He will not allow even one of His sheep to be stolen from the flock. Though He will lead us through dark valleys, He will finish the work He began! —Nathan
