This is a rough demo of a Psalm setting written for Parish Presbyterian in March of 2023.
Psalm 61 (TRAVELLER)
Text: Psalm 61:1-8, The Psalter with Music, 1900, alt. Henry C. Haffner, 2022; Music: TRAVELLER, Henry C. Haffner, 2022.
Lord, hear my voice, my prayer attend, from earth’s remotest bound I send,
My broken-hearted cry.
When troubles fill my fainting breast, then lead me on the rock to rest,
The rock higher than I.
In You my soul has shelter found, and You have been from foes around,
The tower of my defense.
My home shall your pavilion be; and underneath Your wings I’ll flee,
To find deliverance.
When troubles fill my fainting breast, then lead me on the rock to rest,
The rock higher than I.
For You, O Lord, my vows have heard, on me their heritage conferred,
That fear Your holy name.
Long life You to Your servant give, through generations he shall live,
From age to age the same.
Before the Lord shall he abide; oh, give him truth, and grace provide,
To guard him in the way.
So I Your praises will make known, and humbly bending at Your throne,
My vows will daily pay.
