According to Phillipians 2:9, the Father has bestowed upon Jesus “the name that is above every name.” His name is
“glorious,” adored within His temple and loved by strangers whose hearts are filled with its “blissful theme.” The Lord
declares of Him in Psalm 2, “You are My Son; I have brought You forth this day.” He is called “Alpha and Omega,”
begotten before the world began to be. His throne will be established like Solomon’s, and the rulers of the earth must
offer Him reverent worship. Even the angels, called “winds” and “flaming fires” in Psalm 104, must fall down on their
faces and worship the Lamb. What a wonder that this Jesus—to whom is due all glory, all power, all wisdom, all might,
all honor, and all blessing—has been given to us, to be slain as the hope for sinners. —Henry C. Haffner
